Blumberg Publishes Revised New York Power of Attorney Forms and Releases New Non-Statutory Power of Attorney for Commercial Transactions
NEW YORK, NY – August 26,
2010 – BlumbergExcelsior, Inc., the leading supplier of legal forms
online and on paper, announces the publication of revised power of
attorney forms for New York State.
The new forms incorporate the amendments to the statutory power of attorney
now found in General Obligations Law Sections 5-1501-14. Governor Paterson
signed the Bill (A8392C) on August 13, 2010 and it will become effective
on September 12. Current forms signed prior to September 12 will be
valid after that date. A reading of section 31 of the Bill suggests
that the new power of attorney forms may be signed prior to September
12, but cannot be acted upon until September 12th.
In introducing the new forms,
Bob Blumberg, President, said “We’ve been keeping a close watch
on the Statutory Powers of Attorney Bill as it moved through the state
legislature and onto the Governor’s desk. Our presses are running
and the forms will be available for shipment by September 7. We’ll
make them available onBlumbergLegalForms.com, our legal forms website, earlier
in September.”

power of attorney for business, finance and real estate transactions
prepared by Donovan & Giannuzzi, LLP. Mr. Blumberg said, “The
new law clears up uncertainty as to whether a non-statutory power of
